It's Breastfeeding Awareness Month:
Find Local Data
August is National Breastfeeding Month. In 2010, about 57% of California infants were exclusively breastfed in the hospital after birth, with county-level figures ranging from 21% to 87%. See data for your county>>
Breastfeeding helps protect against serious health conditions, including infections, allergies, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. California has a statewide goal to make breastfeeding the normal method of infant feeding for at least the first year of life.
